25th January, 2009 - 9:30pm
It had been a beautiful day. Calm and Warm. There was a reasonable amount of cloud cover.
It was 9:30pm, dusk, and time for bed.
During the Summer months we like to sleep with the curtains and windows open in our bedroom to allow the maximum airflow.
As I lay my head on the pillow, I was looking out our window. Because my head was low I was able to see the sky. I noticed a 'very' bright light approaching us from a Northerly direction. The intensity of the light was unusual so I commented to Neil asking him what he thought it was.
We decided to go outside and have a better look. The object, at this point was still coming towards us from the North-north-West.
As we stood there, watching it, it continued to approach us, until it was almost overhead, then it abruptly made a turn towards the East. Its movement was smooth, quick and acute. There was no sound. I couldn't believe what I saw because there is no plane in existence that could complete 'that' manoeuvre.
Neil ran inside to get the camera, and managed to snap off about 14 pictures in reasonably quick succession. You can view the photos by following this link.
As the object moved further to the East, the light diminished, but we got the feeling that it got less bright; not because it was getting further away, but getting less bright as though 'the battery was running out'; if you understand me.
I must reiterate, that there was no sound from this thing. It was a beautiful calm night with not even a puff of wind. Furthermore it was not an aircraft (of conventional description, anyway) as it had no flashing lights. As you can see from the photos
, this object was 'under' the cloud cover and was definitely not a star or satellite.
The photos do not do justice to the intensity of the light we observed. The camera used was a Lumix LX3 camera with a 60mm lens (Equivalent) so the UFO appears not as close as I would like.
These photos are Un-retouched.
